Employee Spotlight: Dhruv Belai

Today, we are excited to highlight Dhruv Belai, who joined SolBid as a Software Engineer and Machine Learning Intern and contributed to several advanced software and AI initiatives supporting our renewable energy platform.
Meet Dhruv
Dhruv worked on multiple engineering projects that combined software development and machine learning. His contributions focused on advancing intelligent automation within SolBid’s systems and improving internal and customer-facing workflows.
Background & Experience
Dhruv holds a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering and a Master’s degree in Computer Science. Prior to joining SolBid, he gained experience as a Software Engineer Intern in India and also served as a Teaching Assistant at Northeastern University, where he taught Foundations of Data Science to undergraduate students from diverse academic backgrounds.

Dhruv first came across SolBid while browsing opportunities on the MassCEC internship platform in December 2024.

Dhruv was drawn to SolBid because of the opportunity to work at the intersection of software engineering, machine learning, and data science. The company’s focus on helping commercial organizations adopt solar energy aligned strongly with his technical interests and environmental values.
What Makes the Experience Special
One of the aspects Dhruv valued most was the ability to work closely with the founders and experienced software engineers. He appreciated the open environment that encouraged discussion, idea-sharing, and daily learning. The collaborative culture allowed him to grow both technically and professionally.
Mission-Driven Contributions
During his internship, Dhruv supported intelligent automation initiatives aimed at simplifying solar planning processes. His work contributed to improving how solar solutions can be evaluated and deployed more efficiently.
Highlight Project
Dhruv’s favorite project involved developing and refining an automated solar planning feature. He described the project as both challenging and rewarding, noting that its technical complexity pushed him to grow and expand his skill set.
Maintaining Balance
To maintain work-life balance, Dhruv enjoys playing multiplayer video games, listening to music, and taking time to recharge outside of work.
Outside of Work
Outside of engineering, Dhruv enjoys gaming, music, traveling, and driving. These activities help him reset and return to work with focus and energy.
