Solar Investments Outperform Expectations

Reliability of solar is up across the United States, according to major credit rater Fitch. When compared to wind, solar is more likely to reliably generate or outperform expectations. Fitch Ratings, one of the "Big Three credit rating agencies", has recently upgraded 19% of its solar projects, while wind has suffered a net downgrade. Yet another sign of solar's continued spread across the country.

Sysco Announces Plans for Multi-Site Solar Garden

With over 65,000 associates and 300 distribution facilities serving 500,000 customer locations, there's no doubt that Sysco has some high energy needs. On June 6th, the company signed a ten-year renewable energy agreement; subsequently, three solar garden sites are being constructed in Texas, which will provide about 10% of Sysco’s U.S. electricity usage.

The opening of this year’s Climate Week NYC was punctuated by the arrival of the latest wave of participants in a growing trend: Bank of America, General Motors, Wells Fargo & Co, VF Corp, and Apple joined The Climate Group’s RE100, an international coalition of corporations committed to adopting 100% renewable electricity. 

IKEA to Construct Largest Non-utility Solar Arrays in OH, IL

In a continuation of what is now a growing trend of private sector-involvement, IKEA will soon become the largest non-utility owner of solar power in the state of Ohio. Boasting a potential of 1.21 MW potential from 3,546 PV panels, the Columbus, OH project is the second in the state for the house-ware giant; its Cincinnati store was topped with a 1.026 MW array in 2012.
