SolBid, Inc. is composed of hard-working individuals, each with their own unique story. Today, we are putting the Spotlight on Chris Saettel, DoD Skillbridge Program Intern here at SolBid.

Chris has a Bachelor’s degree in History and Masters in International Relations. He also has a background as a military officer and pilot, having spent the past 22 years in the US Air Force flying KC-135 and C-37B aircraft in locations all over the world. Chris is taking part in a program called Skillbridge, which allows service members to learn a new skill they’re passionate about over their last 6 months of service, which is how he ended up at SolBid! Thanks to his background in process-improvement, strategic planning, and policy development, Chris has been working to codify the current internal standard operating procedures (SOPs) of Project Operations and help find synergies, streamline steps, and identify the potential for software automation. Chris wanted to get involved with SolBid in order to combat his personal contributions to climate change. As he puts it, “My USAF airplane burnt 10,000 pounds of jet fuel per hour...and I've accumulated over 3,700 hours of flight time.” He wants to help our nation’s energy production get on a better trajectory, and leave the world a better place than he found it.

At SolBid, Chris enjoys working with the team and learning more about solar power. Outside of work, Chris enjoys running, swimming, going to OrangeTheory, coaching his kids' sports teams, rowing crew and reading. He lives by the motto: "If you want something you've never had, then you've got to do something you've never done". For the future, Chris’s hopes for renewable energy are boundless. Between solar, wind, tidal, geothermal, hydro, and nuclear energies Chris believes we will be able to supply millions of people with jobs and eventually work towards an energy grid free from carbon and fossil fuels.

We are incredibly grateful to have a hardworking and dedicated member like Chris on our team to assist us in our efforts to empower businesses to go solar!
