Walt Disney is well-known worldwide as a strong supporter of sustainability and solar energy. The company announced new plans to build two new 75-megawatt solar projects in Polk and Gilchrist counties in Florida on April 4th, 2022. The project, which will cover 1,000 acres, is expected to produce power as soon as 2023.

According to The Hill, the new solar project will include over 500,000 solar panels capable of producing up to 375,000 megawatt-hours of solar energy. This solar energy is equivalent to removing 29,500 carbon-based cars from the road every year.

Walt Disney has previously built various solar projects, including a 270-acre 50+-megawatt solar facility that powers two of Walt Disney World's four parks and the famous "Hidden Mickey" 5-megawatt solar array in the shape of Mickey Mouse at Walt Disney World.

The Walt Disney Company sets ambitious milestones that they achieve every year to make the world a better place. A statement from Walt Disney published on April 4th, 2022, states: "For nearly a century, The Walt Disney Company has found inspiration in the wonders of the world we share and has taken action to support a healthier planet for people and wildlife around the globe. That includes reducing our environmental footprint, caring for wildlife and their habitats, and creating stories that inspire action."

Companies such as Walt Disney help set the standard in the rapidly growing self-sustainability market by continuing to build and use more renewable energy options. Commercial solar allows businesses to reduce their utility bills significantly, but it also saves the planet and helps the world transition to a decentralized energy economy.
